Frequently asked questions
What is the dollar rate against the pound today?
The rate at the top of this page is indicative. It usually updates once a day from a currency data source and may differ slightly from your bank's rate. For the official rate check the Central Bank of Egypt website or your bank.
Why does the dollar rate differ between banks?
Each bank applies its own buy and sell margin, so rates differ by small amounts, and the buy rate is lower than the sell rate.
Does the dollar rate affect gold prices in Egypt?
Yes. Gold is priced globally in USD, so a stronger dollar against the pound raises the local gram price even if the ounce is flat. See the 21K gold price.
